HARARE, Zimbabwe— A Zimbabwean women's organization launched a new podcast show aimed at promoting gender equality and increasing women's participation in public life, writes Winston Mwale.
The Gender Responsiveness Show, which premiered Saturday, features discussions with gender champions about policy-making and implementation. WDN Zimbabwe, the group behind the initiative, plans to air 13 episodes in its first season.
"We are excited to launch this innovative show, which will provide a unique platform for Gender Champions to share their stories and expertise," said Olga Makoni, vice chairperson of WDN Zimbabwe.
"Our goal is to amplify voices and inspire sustained action to promote gender-responsive policy making and implementation towards increased women's participation in public life."
The show covers topics including gender-responsive policy making, the role of gender champions, and gender-responsive public service provision.
It aims to address challenges, policy gaps, and sociocultural norms that restrict women's full participation in public life.
Each episode features expert panelists and special guests discussing issues such as harmful gender norms and their impact on women's participation in public spaces.
WDN Zimbabwe hopes the show will encourage policymakers to create more inclusive policies and practices.
