Zero2 Vows to Restore Services After Network Woes

BLANTYRE, Malawi— The fledgling telecommunications and internet services provider Zero2 has acknowledged that network challenges have hampered its operations, diverting consumer confidence, writes Steven Godfrey Mkweteza.
Speaking in an exclusive interview in Blantyre on Thursday in reaction to recent trending reports of intermittent services, Zero2 Managing Director Faizal Okhai has assured consumers that network services will be restored within weeks.
“We are definitely facing some unforeseeable complicated issues as a new network in the market. However, we are tirelessly working to ensure that the challenges are rectified in the next few weeks,” Okhai said.
According to the managing director, consumers around Blantyre have been experiencing a relatively robust network unlike in other districts covered by the company.
“I should think that the overwhelming demand for our services since we rolled out our brand is congesting our network. We couldn't foresee this trend in our planning,” he said.
Okhai also assured consumers that the company would soon expand dealers to provide services locally.
“Our focus is to make the services available to all Malawians, with the main target of reaching low and middle income earners who need affordable, high-quality communications for development,” he said.
