Youth Groups Unite to Empower Next Generation of Political Leaders
The event marks a step toward fostering a generation of young leaders prepared to contribute to the nation's political future.
MZUZU, Malawi— Two youth organizations joined forces Monday to equip young people with leadership skills and political knowledge ahead of upcoming general elections, writes Lumbani Kaunda.
The Mzuzu Youth Association and Timbiri Youth Network hosted a dialogue in Mzuzu under the theme "Promoting Youth Leadership and Mindset Change."
Francis Chirambo, coordinator for Mzuzu Youth Association, said the event aimed to share insights on effective leadership.
"We have discovered that most young people are being exploited by politicians and are often manipulated for the benefit of the older generation of politicians," Chirambo said.
"This initiative will empower them to avoid such malpractice."
The dialogue focused on educating youth about political systems, parties and principles of good leadership.
Edward Kaunda, youth advisor for Timbiri Youth Network, emphasized the event's strategic timing to amplify youth voices and encourage informed political decisions.
Participating youth clubs included Added Power and Understanding Sustainable Education, Hope for All Generations, Titchile Speak-Out Youth Club, Umodzi Youth Organization and Kang'ona Youth Club.
The event marks a step toward fostering a generation of young leaders prepared to contribute to the nation's political future.
