Youth Group Renovates Desks, Chairs at Lilongwe School

LILONGWE,Malawi- The Active Youth Organization for Development (AYOD) carried out a community service project on Wednesday, renovating broken desks and chairs at Mlodza Secondary School through their newly acquired welding skills, writes AfricaBrief Reporter.
A team from the Lilongwe-based AYOD welded and repaired 24 chairs, 16 tables, and 7 desks at the school after completing a four-month intensive welding and fabrication training under the Malawi National Youth Service scholarship.
The head mistress of Mlodza Secondary, Mrs. Kumtamula, expressed gratitude for the renovation work, stating the repaired furniture will be used by students during exams and other school activities.
Lilongwe Urban Youth Officer Wezzie Kamanga encouraged the youth to work hard, thanking them for the corporate social responsibility initiative and advising them to remain united for business success.
Vitumbiko Visangwika Ngwira, AYOD's founding director, said the group aims to contribute towards achieving the Malawi 2063 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals. He encouraged fellow youth to think positively and be agents of development.
Ngwira also thanked the tutor from YiPMadE Training Center under Music Crossroads Malawi for providing services to the youth during their training.
