X-ray Machine at Mzimba District Hospital Now Operational After Repairs
Phale visited the hospital on Wednesday to cheer on the survivors of the accident and pledged that the government would do everything possible to fix the machine.
Malawi: The X-ray machine at Mzimba District Hospital, which had been out of service since November, is now operational after Deputy Minister of Health Enock Phale promised to fix the issue, writes Judgment Katika.
The hospital had previously been forced to refer patients seeking X-ray services to other facilities, including Mary Mount secondary school students who were involved in a bus accident last Tuesday.
Phale visited the hospital on Wednesday to cheer on the survivors of the accident and pledged that the government would do everything possible to fix the machine.
He stated, "I am extremely happy to say that patients at Mzimba Hospital who need X-ray services are no longer being referred to other facilities as it were before. Our engineers have managed to fix the faulty part and we have since advised our engineers to make sure that medical equipment in our facilities is timely serviced."
Dr. Mwaungulu, the District Medical Officer, has confirmed that the X-ray machine is now operational and a spare part has been sourced in case of any future issues.
