World Vision Malawi Donates MK90 Million Worth of Furniture
The furniture donation is part of WVM's broader initiatives to support education and promote sustainable development in communities across Malawi.
MZIMBA, Malawi- World Vision Malawi (WVM) has donated furniture worth K90 million to schools in the Bwengu Education Zone, in a bid to alleviate educational challenges faced by learners in the area, writes Lumbani Kaunda.
The handover ceremony took place at Bwengu Primary School, with Limbani Gondwe Kumpolota, the Programmes' Manager for Mzimba and Nkhata-Bay District at WVM, emphasizing the organization's commitment to ensuring conducive learning environments.
"Beyond the furniture provision, WVM is actively engaged in supporting sanitation and hygiene initiatives in schools within the region. This includes the installation of mechanized water systems and drilling boreholes, further enhancing the overall educational infrastructure," Kumpolota said.
Jessie Kapombe, Chief Education Officer for Mzimba North Education Division, highlighted the potential increase in learner enrolment resulting from improved facilities.
"The provision of furniture, consisting of 370 desks, is expected to serve all schools in the education zone, including Bwengu Community Day Secondary School," Kapombe said.
"Such amenities not only alleviate the discomfort of sitting on the floor during classes but also serve as a motivational factor, particularly for female students."
The donation from WVM underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing educational disparities and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
"With this support, learners in the Bwengu Education Zone are poised to experience enhanced educational opportunities and improved academic outcomes," Kapombe added.
The furniture donation is part of WVM's broader initiatives to support education and promote sustainable development in communities across Malawi.
