Women's Football Bonanza Set for Central Region This Weekend
Four Central Region teams are set to compete: reigning champions KB Lioness, Silver Strikers Women, Civil Service Women and Hungry Lions.
LILONGWE, Malawi— A MK2.5 million two-day women's football bonanza is scheduled to kick off Saturday at Nankhaka grounds in Lilongwe, renowned administrator Anthony Msendema said Tuesday, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
The tournament aims to provide match practice for teams preparing for the upcoming national women's tournament. All participating sides will receive MK500,000, with an additional MK500,000 prize for the overall winner.
"The essence of the bonanza is to give game time to players and help participating teams prepare well for the upcoming national women's tournament," said Msendema, a former chairperson of the DD Sunshine Women's Football Club.

Andrew Chikhosi, head coach of Silver Strikers Women, commended Msendema for his passion in developing the women's game in the region.
"The timely organized bonanza will certainly help teams prepare well ahead of the national competition," Chikhosi said.
On Saturday, Civil Service Women face Hungry Lions at noon, followed by KB Lioness against Silver Strikers Women at 3 p.m. The tournament concludes Sunday.
