WaterAid Malawi allocates K63 million to construct new water supply system and wash facilities at Ntchisi District Hospital.
NTCHISI, MALAWI — WaterAid Malawi, a non-profit organisation, has set aside K63 million to address water challenges at Ntchisi District Hospital, writes Mphatso M'bang'ombe.
The project aims to construct a new water supply system and provide additional wash facilities at the facility.
On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, the organisation handed over the project to the contractor to commence construction.
Laston Zungu, Programme Officer for WaterAid Malawi, stated that the project was crucial in alleviating the water challenges faced by the hospital, as there was no financial support from United Kingdom funders called the Wimbledon Foundation.
"This investment will enhance the quality of healthcare services and contribute to the overall well-being of the community in Ntchisi District," said Zungu.
During a separate interview, James Mtonga, District Environmental Health Officer for Ntchisi, emphasised the importance of the contractor adhering to all the required standards in order to ensure the professional execution of the project.
