VON to Engage Leaders on Development Issues
This was revealed during VON's first-ever 2023 development conference meeting held at the Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu City.
MZUZU, Malawi - Voice of the North (VON) has pledged to engage leaders from various levels of development sectors rather than organising demonstrations that sometimes turn violent, writes Rabecca Kaunda.
This was revealed during VON's first-ever 2023 development conference meeting held at the Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu City.
VON Chairperson Devie Botha stated that some individuals use these demonstrations as an opportunity to destroy existing infrastructure.
"Through engagement, we believe we can achieve tangible outcomes," Botha explained.
He went on to say that VON will soon establish a strong secretariat that will reach out to authorities at various levels.
Meanwhile, Reverend Mlagha, Director of Church and Society of Livingstonia Synod, praised VON, stating that their agendas are well received by northerners as they will unite the people.
"This group is attempting to bring all voices together so that we can move forward as one," he remarked.
He agreed with Botha that engagement and dialogue would yield better results than demonstrations.
