Short Description: 'The Voice Africa' competition sponsored by Airtel offers a chance for African vocal artists to win $100,000 and a recording contract.
LILONGWE, Malawi — Airtel Malawi has announced that one talented African vocal artist will have the chance to win USD 100,000 and a recording contract with the renowned EmPawa music label during the highly anticipated finals of 'The Voice Africa' competition, scheduled for September 24, 2023, writes Moses Nyirenda.
Sponsored by Airtel Africa, the competition has seen three talented Malawian nationals, Esther Chitheka-Lewis, Taonga Kanthungo, and Nathan Chalu, successfully advance through the intense battle round stage, which began on June 4, 2023.
In the battle rounds, four celebrity coaches led teams of 14 talented individuals. Esther Chitheka-Lewis was mentored by Awilo Longomba, Taonga Kanthungo by Locko, and Nathan Chalu by Lady Jaydee.
The show will continue on July 3, 2023, with the coaches selecting individuals from their teams to compete against each other by performing the same song.
To advance to the next round, known as the 'Knockouts,' they will need to deliver outstanding performances that showcase their superstar qualities.
As the competition progresses, it will feature a reduced pool of 32 talents from across Africa, who will go head-to-head, aiming to impress their coaches for the opportunity to stay in the show.
During the live stage, 24 talents from the knockouts will perform, and the audience will have the power to vote for and save their favourite contestants.
Thokozani Kamkondo-Sande, Airtel Malawi's Marketing Director, commended the three Malawian nationals for making it to the competition's battle stage.
"We are incredibly proud to have three outstanding vocal talents from our country proceed to 'The Voice Africa' battle stage. This presents them with an incredible opportunity to be crowned The Voice of Africa," said Kamkondo-Sande.
She further expressed enthusiasm about providing a platform for these artists to showcase their talent on a global scale and urged the people of Malawi to support them throughout their journey in Africa's ultimate vocal showdown.
Kamkondo-Sande also called on Malawians to rally behind their talented vocal artists, helping them secure a spot in the finals of 'The Voice Africa' competition.
