Villages in Partnership Donates Medical Supplies to Zomba District Hospital
The donation represents a strategic intervention to enhance healthcare service delivery in the region.

ZOMBA, Malawi — Villages in Partnership has donated medical equipment valued at 32 million to Khanda Health Centre, addressing critical healthcare infrastructure challenges in the Zomba district, writes Peter Davieson.
The donation includes microscopes, wheelchairs, and personal protective equipment, aimed at improving patient care and diagnostic capabilities at the recently constructed health facility.
Hospital In-Charge Francis Rodney Msukwa welcomed the contribution, highlighting its potential to reduce patient referrals and diagnostic wait times.
"We are very thankful for the items received today," Msukwa said.
"These pieces of equipment will help us in many areas, including infection prevention."
The health centre, built in 2022, serves approximately 35,000 people annually and currently operates using solar electricity, which can be impacted by weather variations.
Enea Nkhoma, Country Director for Villages in Partnership, emphasised the importance of equipment maintenance.
"I emphasised both the communities and Zomba District Hospital to take good care of the items so they last longer," Nkhoma said.
Hospital administrators are collaborating with district commissioners to address ongoing operational challenges, including potential electricity reliability issues.
