"Use Money Wisely," DC Urges Workers

CHITIPA, Malawi- District Commissioner for Chitipa, Macmillan Magomero has asked participants in the Climate Smart Enhanced public works program to use money received as payment for their work for the betterment of their families, writes Patricia Kayuni.
"The purpose for the programme is to uplift people's livelihood hence the need for them to use the money wisely," Magomero said earlier today in Katutula village, Yamba Catchment area as National local government finance committee commenced payments to the participants.
He said the payment has come at the time when we are busy in fields therefore I urge you to use the money to buy fertilizers and seed."
Magomero warned participants to refrain from abusing their spouses because of the money they have received.
In his remarks, village headman Mwenemusitu commended government for the public works which he said has not only been beneficial to the communities but also helped people to change their mindset towards environmental issues.
Meanwhile, Kumbukani Dorothy Banda, a mother of three children, who has participated in the programme said she is thankful for the programme which has tremendously changed her life.
She said she has learnt to conserve trees and as well practice climate smart ways of farming which have enabled her to attain good yields.
