US Ministry Urges Malawi Youth to Embrace Spiritual Life
The ministry, active in Malawi for three years, reports positive feedback from pastors and parents about its impact on youth.
BLANTYRE, Malawi— The founder of a U.S.-based church ministry encouraged Malawian youth to embrace spirituality as a means to drive national development during a training event Saturday, writes Happy Valirani.
James Burks, president of One Voice Ministries, addressed children of pastors from various denominations at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Chigumula, Blantyre.
"I believe this generation, by the power of God, is going to make a difference in Malawi," Burks said.
"These young people have the potential to make differences here in Malawi, but they need the power of God to help them do that."
The training, attended by over 70 participants, aimed to equip pastors' children with gospel messages and promote moral living.
Flavia Petra Mulalo, a participant, said the event helped them address shared experiences and challenges. \
"We have discussed things that we can't speak about at church and even at school, particularly issues like relationships and finances," Mulalo said.
Moses McDonald Mikithayo, vice president of One Voice Ministries in Malawi, said the organization plans to expand similar trainings to other districts.
He added that the ministry also engages in charitable works, including educational support for orphans and donations to prisons and hospitals.
