US-Based Customer Wins K20M Plot in Standard Bank Promotion

LILONGWE, Malawi — A Washington, D.C.-based customer has won a plot of land worth K20 million in Standard Bank's Diaspora Transact and Win promotion, writes AfricaBrief reporter.
Donald Mphande emerged as the grand prize winner during the final draw of the promotion, which began in March to recognize contributions from Malawians living abroad.
"I am extremely thrilled by the excellent news," Mphande said.
"I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to Standard Bank for this incredible opportunity."
Charity Mughogho, Standard Bank's executive head of personal and private banking, said the promotion exceeded expectations.
"Our Diaspora Promotion has been a tremendous success," Mughogho said.
"We are thrilled to reward them with such fantastic prizes and appreciate their continued support."
The bank reported increased trading volumes during the promotion, indicating growing interest from Malawians abroad in remitting foreign currency home.
Ten diaspora customers received prizes, including solar equipment and cash, during the grand draw.
