Umthetho Ceremony Begins in Mzimba District

MZIMBA, Malawi-The Umthetho ceremony has begun at Hora in Mzimba district, with Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Richard Chimwendo as the guest of honour, writes Tionge Hara.
Other dignitaries in attendance include Deputy Minister of Local Government Owen Chomanika, Jacob Hara, Gotani Hara, the Speaker, and Titus Mvalo, Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister.
The Umthetho ceremony is a traditional Ngoni ceremony that celebrates the Ngoni people's history and culture.
It is held annually at Hora Mountain, which is considered to be the ancestral home of the Ngoni.
The ceremony begins with a procession of chiefs and elders to the top of Hora Mountain.
Once at the top, the chiefs and elders perform traditional rituals and prayers.
The ceremony also includes traditional dances and music.
The Umthetho ceremony is an important event for the Ngoni people.
It is a time to celebrate their culture and heritage and reaffirm their commitment to their traditions.
