Malawi: Two people, Christopher Wilson and Cecilia Katunga, have been taken into police custody in Chikwawa after being found in possession of a live pangolin, writes Comfort Bulengete.

Wilson, 44, is from Kalanga Village in Mwanza District, while Katunga, 40, is from Ganamba Village in Chikwawa District.

The arrest took place on December 30, 2022, after police received a tip that the suspects were offering the pangolin for sale in Sande Village.

The pangolin has been handed over to authorities from the Parks and Wildlife Department, while the suspects, who claim to have obtained the animal in Mwanza, are scheduled to appear in court next week.

The police in the district have warned that they will not tolerate any violations of wildlife laws.
