Tsinghua Summer Fellowship Brings Global Youth to Explore China
The fellowship will conclude with exchanges at Tsinghua University in Beijing from Aug. 27 to 30, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and global competence among international youth.
BEIJING, China— Tsinghua University launched its Summer Fellowship Programme recently, bringing together 40 young representatives from 17 prestigious international universities for a cultural and academic exchange in China, writes AfricaBrief Reporter.
The opening ceremony, hosted by Tsinghua's Cyrus Tang Center for Student Global Development and the Center for Global Competence Development, welcomed students from institutions including Cambridge, Harvard, MIT, Oxford, and Yale.
Tsinghua Vice-President Yang Bin emphasized the crucial role of youth in international cooperation.
"The summer camp provides a valuable platform for Chinese and international youth to jointly explore crucial topics such as global development, cultural innovation and mutual learning between civilizations," Yang said.
Li Tingting, director of the Development Planning Division at the Ministry of Education's China Center for International People-to-People Exchange, also addressed the ceremony.
Participants, whose academic backgrounds span fields from computer science to neuroscience, visited Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University and toured cultural sites in Beijing on the opening day.
The program includes trips to Shanghai, Guizhou, Zhejiang, and Inner Mongolia, offering insights into China's economic development, technological innovation, and cultural diversity.
