FCB donates K15M to Beit Cure ahead of fundraising gala, writes Staff Reporter.
Blantyre, Malawi - First Capital Bank (FCB), one of Malawi's largest and most successful banks, has donated K15 million to Beit Cure International Hospital ahead of the health facility's crucial fundraising gala, writes Staff Reporter.
Speaking to the press after presenting the donation cheque, FCB Marketing Head Twikale Chirwa said the bank believes the hospital makes an enormous difference to children's lives and the country's wellbeing.
"Good health is national wealth. Beit Cure is living our mission to support partners that develop Malawi's socio-economic status," said Chirwa.
The grateful hospital Director Elly Chemey thanked the bank for the timely support, explaining the gala aims to mobilise funds for children requiring Beit Cure's specialist paediatric surgeries.
"We're delighted. FCB has long supported us. This event will help raise local and international resources to assist children from across Malawi access help," said Chemey.
Beit Cure International Hospital - the only such facility in sub-Saharan Africa recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons of England - has 58 beds, 3 operating theatres and performs over 1,200 reconstructive and orthopaedic surgeries annually.
However each child costs the hospital around MK1.5 million for a successful surgery, revealed Chemey.
FCB's generous donation will go a long way in helping Beit Cure transform more young lives through specialised paediatric surgery and rehabilitation.
The sizeable contribution demonstrates FCB's commitment to backing outstanding causes that improve lives - cementing its status as one of Malawi's most socially responsible financial powerhouses.
