TNM Launches 'Tikolore' Promotion to Boost Agriculture

BLANTYRE, Malawi - Malawi's leading mobile network operator TNM has unveiled its 2024 "Tikolore" promotion celebrating the harvest season and providing inputs to help farmers prepare for the next planting season, writes Eunice Chitika.
The grand prize is a brand-new Toyota Hilux pickup truck, while other prizes like fertilizer and water pumps were selected to assist farmers boost productivity, TNM said Wednesday.
"Tikolore promotion reflects TNM's strategy towards contributing to the country's agriculture sector," said Sobhuza Ngwenya, TNM marketing director.
"In a year when El Nino brought drought and reduced output, the importance of irrigation agriculture and related energy technologies needs no further emphasis."
Ngwenya said as a technology company, TNM recognizes the importance of agricultural technology and mechanization for Malawi's largely agrarian economy.
He added that the promotion demonstrates TNM's appreciation for its customers.
"The essence of this promotion lies in our deep-rooted commitment to appreciate and celebrate our customers as they rejoice after the growing season," Ngwenya said. "This is a tribute to their resilience and unwavering spirit."
To enter the promotion, customers can spend 1,000 kwacha ($1.30) weekly on TNM products and services or register three new users for the company's mobile money service Mpamba.
Prizes also include gas stoves and TNM products. A series of weekly and monthly drawings will be held leading up to the grand prize giveaway.
"With transactions of 1,000 kwacha a week on TNM services, customers will earn entries into the weekly and monthly draws," Ngwenya said.
"This will be a build up to the grand prize draw, where one lucky winner will drive away with a brand-new pickup truck."
