Tigers Maul Rookies Baka City 4-1 in TNM Super League

BLANTYRE, Malawi- Mighty Wakawaka Tigers registered a 4-1 convincing win over Super League rookies Baka City from Karonga in a TNM Super League match played at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre on Thursday, writes Happy Valirani.
Tigers narrowly dominated the first half with a Baka City own goal by Robert Kolneli at the 24th minute to give the home side a 1-0 lead until the break.
Baka City tried to find an equalizer in the second half, but their efforts were not enough to unlock the Tigers' defense.
Alex Kambilinya, voted man of the match for his outstanding defensive performance, doubled the lead for Tigers at the 70th minute before Iven Mwakapenda and Masambiro Kaluwa scored in the 72nd and 76th minutes respectively to make it 4-0. Baka City scored a consolation goal through Taniel Mhango in the 85th minute for a 4-1 final score.
Following the win, Tigers moved to 5th place on the log table with 11 points from seven games while Baka City remains bottom with 2 points from seven games.
"It has been a good day because we have won 4-1 otherwise there is a lot to be done in terms of shaping the team, but we should just congratulate the boys for a job well done," said Leonard Mpulula, Mighty Tigers coach.
"At this juncture, three points is very important, we have collected the maximum points in our bag."
"We didn't play like the way we have been playing in our previous games. We had a lot of changes in the first team due to injuries," said Baka City coach Davie Muyombe.
"We have about 6 injured players and our first choice goalkeeper just got injured in the morning warm ups."
