186 Graduate in ICT Training in Dowa

DOWA, Malawi- The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has thanked the Malawi government for supporting initiatives that help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), writes Vincent Gunde.
UNHCR said education is fundamental and central to SDG 4, which aims to ensure inclusive and quality education for all.
The agency said the government's endorsement of activities furthering this goal is key to a more equitable future.
UNHCR Education Officer Priscilla Kalumo spoke Friday at the graduation of 186 students completing the Malawi Digital Program in information and communications technology at the DAPP Teacher's Training College in Dowa district.
"Success is earned through dedication, creativity and an open mind," Kalumo told the graduates.
"Embrace this changing world with creativity, adaptability and eagerness to learn."
She said the opportunities graduates seek may not always be readily available and often require determination and a competitive spirit.
Kalumo offered congratulations on overcoming challenges with resilience and commitment to achieving their dreams.
“You stand as a testament to the power of resilience and dedication,” Kalumo said.
Deborah Ntakirutimana, project team leader for the lab called takenoLab, thanked UNHCR for the "instrumental" partnership in providing learning and growth.
She said UNHCR's support enriched the educational experience and contributed to takenoLab's mission of empowering people through technology.
Ntakirutimana also thanked the Public Private Partnership Commission for promoting collaboration in refugee education through funding.
