Tanzania's New High Commissioner Presents Letters of Credence to Malawi
Her Excellency Agnes Richard Kayola assumes duty as Tanzania's High Commissioner to Malawi, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations.
LILONGWE, MALAWI - Her Excellency Agnes Richard Kayola, the new Tanzania High Commissioner to Malawi, officially presented copies of her Letters of Credence to the Malawian authorities on Tuesday, marking the beginning of her tenure in the country, writes Winston Mwale.
The exchange of diplomatic credentials signifies the commitment to continued cooperation and mutual development between Malawi and Tanzania, according to Malawian President Lazarus Chakwera.
The two neighbouring countries have enjoyed a longstanding diplomatic relationship, fostering collaboration across various sectors that play a crucial role in improving the livelihoods of their respective populations.
Chakwera said Tanzania provides Malawi with a significant trade corridor, facilitating the movement of essential commodities in both the import and export value chains.
This route also supports the livelihoods of small-scale Malawian traders engaged in cross-border trade.
"It is evident that the neighbourliness between our two nations remains a social capital through which our populations continue to uplift themselves," remarked Chakwera.
"We greatly value our cooperation with Tanzania and recognise the vital role it plays in our mutual development."
During their discussions, President Chakwera and High Commissioner Kayola expressed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and exploring opportunities for deeper cooperation.
They highlighted the potential in areas such as trade, investment, education, culture, health, agriculture, aviation, and maritime economic activities.
"We have agreed to foster deeper cooperation through the available opportunities in various sectors. This will contribute to the growth and development of both nations," affirmed President Chakwera.
High Commissioner Kayola assured President Chakwera of her dedication to nurturing the existing strong relations between Tanzania and Malawi.
She said that her tenure would focus on advancing the shared development goals of both countries, reinforcing the bond between their governments and people.
As Tanzania's new envoy takes on her responsibilities in Malawi, the stage is set for continued collaboration and joint efforts in pursuit of sustainable development and improved well-being for the populations of both nations.
