Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan Begins State Visit to Malawi
President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania arrives in Malawi for a three-day state visit, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation.
LILONGWE, Malawi - President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi and the First Lady have expressed their delight as they welcomed Her Excellency Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, who responded “positively” to President Chakwera's invitation for a three-day state visit, writes Winston Mwale.
President Suluhu Hassan is the esteemed guest of honour during the commemoration of Malawi's 59th independence anniversary, which commences today with a national service of worship, said Chakwera.
The Malawi leader said this visit holds significant importance as it provides an opportune moment to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation, mutually aiming to foster sustainable development.
The scheduled bilateral talks between the two leaders are expected to reinforce diplomatic and development cooperation, following several agreements under the Malawi-Tanzania Joint Permanent Commission of Cooperation (JPCC).
President Chakwera expressed his warm welcome to President Suluhu Hassan, stating, "Takulandirani Your Excellency Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan."
This gesture emphasises the hospitality and eagerness of Malawi to deepen its relationship with Tanzania.
