Tanzania Hosts WomenLift Health Global Conference
The conference aims to foster a movement to empower women and support their leadership in global health.
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania-Tanzanian Vice President Dr. Phillip Isdor Mpango has officially opened the WomenLift Health Global Conference, a gathering of 800 delegates from 41 countries, writes Innocencia Chimwemwe- Marie.
In his opening remarks, Vice President Mpango expressed Tanzania's pride in hosting the conference, particularly given that the country's president is a woman.
WomenLift Health President Annie Baston emphasized the importance of developing and implementing strategies to support women's leadership in global health.
Former New Zealand Prime Minister andUNDP Administrator Helen Clark shared her experience in promoting women's leadership within the United Nations Development Programme.
The conference will feature fireside chats and panel discussions with women in leadership positions in global health, as well as male allies who are working to advance women's leadership.
Former Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete urged African leaders and communities to support women's leadership and encouraged governments to take action to diversify leadership roles.
