Malawi: Students at Mzimba's Euthini Secondary School set fire to the school's kitchen Tuesday night.
According to the school's principal, Isaac Daka, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday.
"I only started at the school last Saturday, but I discovered a strained relationship between students and administration. Students here are disobedient, and they had petrol in their hostels for several days prior to the incident,” Daka said.
He added that, so far, the school, in collaboration with Northern Education Division (NED) management, has suspended four Form 4 and six Form 3 students who were deemed to be the arson ringleaders.
The fire also damaged electrical appliances and plumbing materials worth K7 million, according to the head teacher.
In July of this year, students at St. John Bosco Secondary School in the district also petrol-bombed the institution's staff room and stoned its library and two laboratories.
