Strikers Ladies Clinch MK2.5M Bonanza With Derby Dominance
As champions, Silver Strikers Ladies received MK1 million, medals, and the tournament trophy.
LILONGWE, Malawi — Silver Strikers Ladies Football Club emerged victorious in the Inaugural MK2.5 million Dyana Top Four Bonanza, defeating rivals Civil Service Women FC 3-0 in a dominant display at Nakhaka Ground on Sunday, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
The triumph was kickstarted by Chikondi Gondwe's 29th-minute header from Carol Matchola's corner kick. Gondwe extended the lead seven minutes later, before Deborah Henry sealed the emphatic victory with a third goal.
"The girls brought more energy from their training. It was light and made it easy for them during the entire competition," said Silver Strikers Ladies head coach Andrew Chikhosi.
It goes back to the training sessions that we have been having ahead of the national women's football tournament."
Organizer Andrew Msendema, a former DD Sunshine chairman, expressed his satisfaction with the event's success.
In the third-place playoff, MDF Lioness defeated Hungry Lions 4-0, with goals from Fazila Chiyembekeza, Mervis Misomali, and Laita Magombo.
