Striker Gototo Joins Silver Strikers on Three-Year Deal
The striker will join up with his new teammates for pre-season training next week ahead of the new season kick-off in August.
LILONGWE, Malawi - Silver Strikers have officially announced the signing of striker Christopher Gototo on a three-year contract from Blue Eagles who suffered relegation from the top-flight MK14 million Chipiku Premier CRFA league, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
Fresh from an impressive season, Gototo, who was one of the key figures at Eagles, has been snatched by the central banker’s club from Area 30 Police headquarters and will add to an already formidable Bankers forward line that features the likes of Stain Davie and Atusaye Nyondo.
Gototo has been linked with a move away from the Area 30 outfit for some time now, and the possibilities of leaving became stronger with FCB Nyasa Big Bullets being one of the teams reported to be after his signature.
In his first interview with the team, the striker said, "I'm not here to rest, but I am here to work."
The former Sable Farming player joins a star-studded side and will look to add his brilliance as they continue to stamp their authority in local football.
Silver Strikers finished second during the 2023/24 TNM Super League season and were finalists in the Castel Cup after losing to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on penalties at Bingu National Stadium.
Gototo has been one of the most prolific scorers in the league over the past few seasons.
His capture represents a major coup for Silver Strikers as they look to go one better and claim the league title in the upcoming campaign.
