LILONGWE, Malawi— Standard Bank marked Malawi's 60th Independence Day with an online poetry exhibition featuring four of the country's contemporary poets on Saturday evening, writes AfricaBrief Correspondent.
The event, themed "Unity In Verse," showcased performances by Nyamalikiti Nthiwatiw, Qabaniso Malewezi, Wanga, and Phindu on the bank's Facebook page.
Tamanda N'gombe, head of marketing at Standard Bank, said, "We organized the event to commemorate Malawi's 60th Independence Day, with renowned names in poetry for an evening that embraces Hope, Healing, Unity and Identity."
The online audience praised the performances, with particular acclaim for up-and-coming poet Phindu.
Viewers noted her unique style and flow, with patron Billy Banda commenting, "The performance was just incredible, a big thumbs up for Phindu."
Internationally recognized poet Q Malewezi also delivered a well-received performance, maintaining his reputation in the spoken word arena.
