Standard Bank Donates K15 Million to UNIMA Theatre Festival

ZOMBA, Malawi — Standard Bank Plc has contributed K15 million to the University of Malawi's (UNIMA) Theatre Festival, set for Nov. 22-24 at the Chancellor College campus in Zomba, writes AfricaBrief Reporter.
The donation, part of Standard Bank's Joy of Arts initiative, aims to support the festival's diverse events showcasing student talent.
Tamanda Ng'ombe, Standard Bank's head of brand and marketing, emphasized the bank's commitment to arts development.
"Our Joy of Arts initiative supports the growth of the arts industry," Ng'ombe said.
"This festival is an opportunity for young people to showcase talent through performance and hone their skills through workshops."
The bank expects the festival to attract participants from various educational and entertainment institutions across the country.
Dr Zindaba Chisiza, festival director at UNIMA, expressed gratitude for the support.
"The bank's support is a vote of confidence in the festival's concept, brand, and unique position in the arts sector in Malawi," Chisiza said.
