Standard Bank Boosts Kumbali Live Concert with 40 Million Kwacha Sponsorship

LILONGWE, Malawi— Standard Bank Plc has increased its support for the Kumbali Live music concert, pledging K40 million for the event's second edition scheduled for October 12, 2024, in Lilongwe, writes AfricaBrief Reporter.
The sponsorship, up from 30 million kwacha last year, underscores the bank's commitment to fostering arts, culture, and music in Malawi as it celebrates its 55th anniversary in the country.
Tamanda Ng'ombe, Standard Bank's Head of Brand and Marketing, emphasized the bank's dedication to the creative sector.
"We believe in the power of the arts, music and culture to create jobs, engage the youth and profile Malawi," Ng'ombe said.
"This is in line with our purpose: Malawi is our home, and we drive her growth."
The bank's involvement is part of its "Joy of the Arts" initiative, aimed at building capacity within creative industries and celebrating its long-standing presence in Malawi.
Ian D'heygere, General Manager of Kumbali Lodge, expressed gratitude for the increased sponsorship, highlighting its importance for the event's success and sustainability.
