SSS Investments Limited Expands Product Line, Set to Introduce New Snacks
The company's expansion reflects its commitment to meeting the diverse preferences of Malawian consumers.
LILONGWE, Malawi — As the Malawi government encourages companies to focus on value addition for export expansion, SSS Investments Limited, the manufacturer of Sangalala Fun Snacks, is set to launch new products by the end of September, writes Christopher Jimu.
The company, located along the Area 47 bypass road off the Mchinji-Lilongwe route, currently produces a variety of snacks, including potato salted chips, potato paprika chips, moon crisps, jungle safari chips, crunchy wheels chips, and alphabet chips.
In an interview, Managing Director Salim Sakrani shared the company's commitment to bringing international standards to Malawian products: "Our crisps can compete with any kind of crisps on the international market. We are growing and expanding at a very good pace, and we have acquired new equipment, enabling us to broaden our product base."
The upcoming products include Cassava BBQ chips, Cassava Sweet Chillies chips, Cassava Tomato Ketchup chips, noodles, pasta, and mini mandasi.
The company aims to maintain its reputation for high-quality snacks while introducing diverse options to meet consumer demands.
Sangalala Fun Snacks, in operation for two years, has experienced increasing sales volumes and popularity among households.
The competitive pricing of the snacks, coupled with adherence to international packaging standards, has contributed to their success.
Sakrani highlighted the company's customer-centric approach and emphasized its role in supporting local farmers: "We offer employment to Malawians and provide farmers with an opportunity to sell their potatoes and cassava at competitive prices, supporting the government's poverty reduction efforts."
Local resident Simeon Chigalu praised the company for introducing new products, noting the cost-effectiveness compared to imported crisps: "I used to buy imported crisps for my school-going kids, but now I have gone local. Sangalala chips are equally good, and we are saving a lot of money. Imported crisps are beyond the reach of many Malawians given the current state of the economy."
Sangalala Fun Snacks has become a staple for various occasions, including school snacks, parties, weddings, tea time, and as treats for patients.
The company's expansion reflects its commitment to meeting the diverse preferences of Malawian consumers.
