SRHR Africa Trust launches YouthWYZE app to provide comprehensive sexual reproductive health education and services to young people in Malawi.
LILONGWE, MALAWI — The SRHR Africa Trust-SAT Malawi has launched the YouthWYZE app to empower young people with comprehensive sexual reproductive health education and services, writes Meclina Chirwa.
The YouthWYZE app, pioneered by the SRHR Africa Trust, aims to address the gaps in accessing information on sexual reproductive health and rights (SRHR) among young people.
The digital hub provides resources, guidance, and community support through insightful articles, interactive topics, and expert tips.
Robert Mangwazu Phiri, SAT Malawi Country Director, highlighted the importance of the app in promoting access to SRHR services.
He stated, "YouthWYZE provides a safe and inclusive platform where young people can access resources, guidance, and community support. It provides sexual reproductive health online education by offering insightful articles, interactive topics, and expert tips to empower young individuals with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for making informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health."
The app addresses issues of confidentiality and accessibility by providing a clear guide on where to find SRHR services.
Eureka Mainga, a young person from SAT Youth Hub, expressed her appreciation for the app, stating, "This application will help me a lot because it has different categories of HIV, contraceptives, among others, meaning if I have questions or doubts regarding any service, I will just go on the app and it will be able to show me."
Hanz Katengeza, the National Programme Coordinator for Adolescents and Youth on SRHR emphasised the importance of digital platforms in increasing access to SRHR services.
He said, "The Ministry of Health is committed to promoting the use of digital platforms to increase access to SRHR services across Malawi."
The launch of the YouthWYZE app signifies a step forward in equipping young people with the necessary tools to thrive in the digital age and address unique challenges and opportunities in the realm of sexual and reproductive health.
