South Koreans Donate K1.6 Billion in Medical Aid
The Education Ministry is also set to benefit from the donation.
LILONGWE, Malawi— A South Korean humanitarian group has donated medical supplies and other items worth K1.6 billion to assist Malawi’s cyclone relief efforts, writes Abraham Bisayi.
The donation from Global Life Sharing includes medical oxygen, a generator, wheelchairs, medicines and more. It was facilitated through Malawi's Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA).
“This medical equipment shall only be used for intended purposes as it will go towards alleviating the challenges that cyclone survivors are facing,” said Beston Chisamile, principal secretary for health administration, at a handover ceremony.
Global Life Sharing President Yung Duk-Clara Cho said the organisation aims to provide medical support to countries like Malawi in times of need.
“Having stayed in Malawi for over 30 years, I know the country’s health care system challenges, and we will continue offering support to the government of Malawi so that we can help in improving the health care service delivery,” Cho explained.
The Education Ministry is also set to benefit from the donation.
