South African Star Sho Madjozi to Headline Lake of Stars Festival
The three-day event promises an immersive experience of arts, culture, heritage, tourism, community outreach, collaborations and networking.
NKHOTAKOTA, Malawi— South African musician Sho Madjozi is set to headline the 20th anniversary of Malawi's Lake of Stars festival, organizers announced Friday, writes Pemphero Musowa.
The event, dubbed "LOS Reactivated," will celebrate both the festival's milestone and Malawi's 60th year of independence. It's scheduled for Sept. 6-8, 2024, at Fish Eagle Bay Lodge, Sani Beach in Nkhotakota.
In a video confirmation, Madjozi said in Chichewa, "Ndikubwera ku Malawi. Tiyeni tikayipatse moto." [I'm coming to Malawi. Let's go get it lit.]
Organizers praised Madjozi's "unique blend of Tsonga culture and global sound," citing her performances at Madison Square Garden, multiple awards, and collaborations with international stars.
Other headliners include Lindsay Chamangwana Ngura, Mumba Yachi, Chmba, Zeze Kingston and Emmie Deebo.
Since its inception, the festival has boosted Malawi's tourism industry and contributed to the country's social and economic growth.
