South African Artist Nkosazana Daughter Refutes Rumors, Decries Industry Sexism
Nkosazana Daughter also addressed speculation about her relationship with another industry figure, known as Sir Trill.
JOHANNESBURG— South African amapiano star Nkosazana Daughter has taken to social media to address ongoing rumours about her relationships and express frustration with sexism in the music industry, writes Wyness Michelle Msukwa, AfricaBrief Entertainment Reporter.
In a series of tweets, the artist, whose real name is Nkosazana Nolwazi Kimberly Nzama, emphatically denied romantic involvement with fellow musician Master KG.
"I assure you big time, my relation with Master KG is not romantic or sexual!" she wrote, adding that they "only work together" despite persistent rumours suggesting otherwise.
Nkosazana Daughter also addressed speculation about her relationship with another industry figure, known as Sir Trill.
"As for my relationship with Sir Trill, it was never a secret but private! Even before you even knew me!" she stated, pushing back against the public scrutiny of her personal life.
The artist expressed disappointment at what she perceives as a lack of respect for women in the industry.
"All this for views? I'm so disappointed at how low people can go, not to mention how women are so disrespected in this industry!" she tweeted.
She further criticized the tendency to attribute her success to romantic relationships rather than her own efforts: "It's so unfortunate that you will never see the amount of work that we have put out, because I'm female, I must be sleeping with him. Disgusting?"
These statements come amid broader discussions about gender equality and respect for privacy in the entertainment industry.
Nkosazana Daughter's comments highlight the ongoing challenges faced by female artists in navigating public perception and maintaining personal boundaries in the public eye.
As of now, neither Master KG nor Sir Trill have publicly responded to Nkosazana Daughter's tweets.
The situation continues to unfold, sparking conversations about media ethics, celebrity privacy, and gender dynamics in the music industry.
