Slow down in your travels, Mr President: Mutharika
"People are sleeping in pump stations while the president drives by on his way to golf," Mutharika explained.
Malawi: Former President Peter Mutharika has accused President Lazarus Chakwera of "over-travelling," calling it insensitive and a waste of public funds, writes Rose Milanzi, Lilongwe, Malawi.
Without providing any evidence, the former president claimed that Chakwera has travelled overseas 34 times and that the current president recently travelled to Egypt with more than 250 people, which should have cost the country a fortune given that the country cannot import fuel.
"People are sleeping in pump stations while the president drives by on his way to golf," Mutharika explained.
All of these accusations were made by the former while speaking to members of the media at his Page house in Mangochi on Friday.
Mutharika also urged Chakwera to make AIP fertilizer available in the country by December.
