Silver Strikers End Chitipa United’s Home Unbeaten Run

KARONGA, Malawi — Chitipa United’s unbeaten home record came to an end on Wednesday, courtesy of a lone goal from Silver Strikers’ Patrick Macheso in the early minutes of the first half at Karonga Stadium, writes Victor Musongole.
Speaking after the game, Chitipa United coach McDonald Mtetemera conceded the defeat, attributing it to fatigue.
“I’m very disappointed with the fixture. We are travelling a lot, which is negatively affecting my players,” Mtetemera said in a post-match interview.
Silver Strikers head coach Pieter De Jongh praised his players for securing maximum points in a challenging situation.
“We were a better team and getting three points here is not easy,” De Jongh said.
With this result, Silver Strikers now have 50 points, trailing three points behind the league leaders, while Chitipa United remains in fourth position with 43 points.
