Silver Strikers Defeat Blue Eagles 2-1 in Thrilling TNM Super League Match

LILONGWE, MALAWI — Silver Strikers emerged victorious in a thrilling TNM Super League match against the Blue Eagles, winning 2-1 at Bingu National Stadium on Sunday, August 6, writes Happy Valirani.
The Central Bankers secured the win with vital goals from Chinsinsi Maonga and Stain Davie during the first half of the match.
Blue Eagles managed to score a consolation goal through Lanken Mwale.
The assistant coach of the Silver Strikers, Peter Mgangira, expressed his delight with the win, acknowledging the tough game against their city rivals.
"It was a 50-50 game," said Mgangira. "We played well in the first half and scored 2 goals. In the second half, our opponents came strong, but we were solid at the back. We are happy to have gotten all three points, especially playing at home."
Mgangira also emphasised the need to stay focused and take each game as it comes. "It's nothing to be on top of," he said.
"We haven't won anything yet. What we need to do is keep pushing forward."
Christopher Sibale, assistant coach of Blue Eagles, felt that the officiating affected their performance.
"We played well," said Sibale. "I can't say it wasn't our day, but the officiating had a significant impact on our game. People have seen what happened. We will go back, analyse our mistakes, and work on improving for future matches."
With this win, Silver Strikers now top the league table, level on points (32) with Chitipa United, although Chitipa United has a worse goal difference.
Uchizi Vunga of Silver Strikers was named the player of the match for his outstanding performance.
In another TNM Super League match played at Karonga Stadium, Chitipa United defeated Karonga United 2-0.
