Malawi: The Silver Strikers management and technical team have announced that they will be releasing seven veteran players, including Taonga Chimodzi, Frank Banda, Mike Robert, Chisomo Mpachika, and Blessings Tembo, as part of their rebuilding process following a disappointing season, writes Alinafe Nyanda.

Sports analyst Mac Collins Chibvunde has expressed concerns about the decision to release all seven senior players at once, suggesting that it could impact the team's balance.

However, Chibvunde also pointed out that this move may encourage Silver Strikers to actively search for new players in the transfer market in an attempt to catch up to their rivals, Nyasa Big Bullets, for the 2023 season.

Silver Strikers were unable to defend their FDH Bank Cup title after being eliminated by Dedza Dynamos in the round of 16 and also finished fifth in the league, behind Nyasa Big Bullets, Blue Eagles, Kamuzu Barracks, and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
