Silver Braces for 'Tricky' Match Against Winless Bangwe
A win could see the visitors climb into the top eight, while victory for Silver would keep their title ambitions firmly on track.
LILONGWE, Malawi— Silver Strikers head coach Peter Mponda is anticipating a "tricky" encounter against winless Bangwe All Stars on Sunday, despite his team's strong start to the 2024 TNM Super League season, writes Alinafe Nyanda.
"It's a very tricky game," Mponda said.
"During pre-season we played against them; it's a good team, comfortable on the ball, defensively very strong."
After securing three points against Chitipa United, the Central Bankers hope to extend their unbeaten home record against a Bangwe side desperate to get their campaign on track.
"We are playing at home, we need to make sure that, whenever we are playing at home, we should collect maximum three points," Mponda said.
Bangwe head coach Christopher Nyambose admits it won't be easy against one of the league's top sides but insists his players are ready for the challenge.
"We have been doing good on training, the players' performance has been brilliant and are giving us hope," Nyambose said.
"We are geared; what we want is to reclaim three points we gave away to FOMO last week. This is a 50/50 affair."
