Seventh Day Adventist Women Donate to Inmates at Mzimba Prison
Women from Seventh-day Adventist Church in Mzimba district donate lunch and assorted items worth 3.6 million kwacha to Mzimba prison inmates.
MZIMBA, MALAWI — As a way of spreading the gospel, women from the Seventh-day Adventist church in Mzimba district visited Mzimba prison on Sunday, where they donated lunch and assorted items worth 3.6 million kwacha to the inmates, writes Alinafe Sambo.
Eneth Thawi, the director of the women and children ministry in the Seventh-Day Adventist Northern region, explained that the women decided to make the donation after witnessing the challenges faced by inmates.
"We wanted to demonstrate our love for them and show them that they are not alone," Thawi said.
The prison's superintendent, Henry Chimukumba, expressed his appreciation for the gesture, stating that the donation would significantly impact the inmates.
Emily Banda Egolet, the director of women, children, and communication for Seventh-Day Adventists in Malawi, highlighted the importance of visiting the inmates and providing support to help build their confidence.
Mzimba Prison currently houses 760 inmates, with 37 on remand.
