SEED Project to Build New Secondary School in Chunzu
New secondary school built in Chunzu, Malawi, as part of SEED project.
DOWA, Malawi-A new secondary school is being built in the Chunzu area of Dowa district, Malawi, as part of the Secondary Education Expansion for Development (SEED) project, writes Abraham Bisayi.
The school will have two classroom blocks, a science laboratory, two teachers' houses, a borehole, and student and teacher latrines.
Construction is expected to take nine months and will be carried out by HE Jacksen Engineering.
The MP for Dowa South East Constituency, Halima Daud, has welcomed the SEED project and urged traditional leaders to take ownership of the project.
She said that the project will help to improve access to quality education in the area and reduce the dropout rate among girls.
Daud also commended the Ministry of Education and USAID for funding the project.
She said that the people of Chunzu have been waiting for many years for a secondary school to be built in the area.
The construction of the Chunzu Day Secondary School is a major step forward in improving access to quality education in hard-to-reach areas of Malawi.
The project will help to ensure that students have the opportunity to reach their full potential and contribute to the development of their country.
