Malawi-The South Malawi Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church conducted a training program for newly elected adventure youth leaders from various SDA churches in the southern region of Malawi, writes Comfort Bulangete.
The training, which aimed to equip the Adventure Youth Leaders on how to manage the junior youth Ministry in their church, took place on March 5, 2023, at the Sunnyside SDA Church in the City of Blantyre.
Speaking during the event, Master Guide Thom Khoza, Chairperson for South Malawi Conference Adventist Youth Department, emphasized the importance of the training program.
"The training was organized to develop Christ-centered leaders, role models for children to follow, providing opportunities for instructions on God's words, to train and provide a diversified team of volunteers and paid stall for leadership, teaching, and discipleship," said Khoza.
"This includes providing facilities and inviting them so that they can learn Christian leadership skills they need and do things needed to manage the church of the 21st century."
One of the participants, Master Guide Mayamiko Amos from Neno, shared her thoughts on the training program.
"I have learned how best I can manage a child, including developing a Christ-centered character and also discovering their God-given abilities," said Amos.
"Whenever I do activities with the youths at my church, where I am coming from, I will focus on providing an opportunity for relationships to form between parents and leaders and children through periodic trips, gatherings, and activities."
Master Guide Pastor Thomas Chadeleka, Youth Director for the South Malawi Conference Of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Youth Department, emphasized the need for collaboration instead of competition for the success of their plans and activities in their respective churches.
The training covered various topics, including the Philosophy of the Adventure Club, Continuous Assessment, How to handle Adventure Club Classes, the relationship between Children's Ministry and Adventure Club, Education plans, the Adventure Uniform, Child protection, and Adventure Calendar.
Various presenters facilitated the sessions.
The training program aims to equip the newly elected Adventure youth leaders with leadership skills and improve their competency in managing the youths.
