Salima DC Lauds M&B Company's Climate Initiative
The company has already planted 2,000 trees at Kaputu Primary School and plans to plant an additional 10,000 before the end of the national forest season.
Salima, Malawi-Salima District Commissioner James Mwenda has commended M&B Company, manufacturers of Tamutamu health drink ginger, for their efforts to combat climate change in the district, writes Noel Bauleni.
On Friday, M&B Company conducted a tree-planting exercise at Kaputu Primary School as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability.
Mwenda praised the company's initiative, noting that it complements government efforts to address environmental degradation. He urged other businesses to follow suit.
"It is not only the council's responsibility to plant trees. Every citizen has a role to play in protecting our environment," Mwenda said.
Senior Chief Kalonga XVI also expressed support for the tree-planting initiative, urging his subjects to embrace environmental conservation.
"This initiative is timely, as Malawi continues to grapple with the effects of climate change, such as flooding," Kalonga said.
M&B Company General Manager Mackcity Makhuwila said the company is committed to giving back to the community.
"Planting trees is one way we can support the president's program to address climate change," Makhuwila said.

Salima District Council Chairperson Limbikani Katoweka encouraged students and community members to care for the newly planted trees.
