SACCO Honors Minister, Media at Recognition Dinner in Mzuzu
The event underscored UCSSACCO's commitment to building relationships with government, media, and stakeholders to support economic empowerment in Malawi.
MZUZU, Malawi— The United Civil Servants Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (UCSSACCO) honoured Trade and Industry Minister Sosten Gwengwe and three journalists Tuesday for their contributions to economic development, writes Tionge Hara.
Executive Director Francis Waliwa presented Gwengwe with a commemorative portrait during an evening event, praising the minister's role in advancing the Malawi 2063 economic transformation vision.
"We recognise those who have been instrumental in promoting our organization's mission," Waliwa said.
The organisation also commended three media professionals for their reporting: Tionge Hara from AfricaBrief, Jackson Sichali from MBC, and Lauryn Tembenu from Mibawa Televisions.
Hara received specific recognition for "being the fastest writer with well-articulated articles, consistency, and dedication to informing the public about UCSSACCO," Waliwa said.
