Rotary club applauded for supporting community health centre

MALAWI: Grace Community Health Centre medical team in the area of Traditional Authority (T/A) Chiwere in Dowa district, have applauded the Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe for supporting their health centre.
This comes after the Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe together with its partners built and equipped a laboratory, maternity wing, and pharmacy among other facilities at Grace Community Health Centre.
Clinical Officer In-charge for the health centre, Chiyembekezo Naketo, said they were facing a lot of challenges at their health centre before the support from Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe.
“Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe has been of great support in terms of the growth of our health centre: before the support from the Club we were failing to do various tests such as full blood count as we had no laboratory.
“In addition to that we had no functional maternity wing and this was affecting our service delivery, but with the coming of the rotary club we are now happy as a lot of things have been done and this has made our work to be so much easier,” Naketo said.
He, therefore, urged the Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe to continue supporting Grace Community Health Centre in order for it to keep on operating efficiently.
“The gadgets which we use to do some tests are so expensive that we cannot manage to maintain them on our own, for this reason, we are appealing to Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe to continue helping us whenever we have a breakdown so that we should keep on running our services smoothly,” he said.
Recently, Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe visited Grace Community Health Centre to appreciate the developments done by their club and its partners at the health centre.
In his remarks, Rotary Club of Bwaila-Lilongwe President, Richard Dilawo said that his rotary club and its partners are excited with the transformation of Grace Community Health Centre.
“The value of our project at Grace Community Health Centre was about K68 Million, so far together with our partners, we are happy to see that the health centre is now transformed to a level of a community hospital because of the facilities which we donated,” Dilawo said.
Grace Community Health Centre assists patients from various communities in the Dowa district which include; Mvera, Maweru, and Thonje just to mention but a few, the health centre provides its services for free and it registers over 50 patients every day.
