MZUZU, Malawi- The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) organized an orientation for the media on Wednesday in the northern region to improve access to financial services among micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), writes Tionge Hara.
The Financial Inclusion and Entrepreneurship Scaling (FInEs) project manager, Dr. Mark Lungu, emphasized that the media plays a crucial role in disseminating such information to the public.
During a special interview with the media, Lungu explained that the project aligns with Malawi's 2063 Development Agenda to create an inclusive, wealthy, and reliable nation.
"It is really a good boost, and we hope and believe that our agenda will be accomplished, hence partnering with the media to do better," he said.
The project focuses on providing resources to MSMEs and building their capacity.
Feston Malekezo, the bureau chief for the Times Group in the northern region, expressed appreciation for the FinEs project and thanked the Reserve Bank for engaging the media.
"The meeting was so important, and coming up now when most Malawians are not aware, it is our duty to write more," he said, adding that the media is ready to disseminate the information.
The FinEs project, which began in 2020, aims to reach 40% of women and 20% of youth by 2025, when the project is expected to end.
