Renowned Journalist Teresa Chirwa-Ndanga Among Appointees to Malawi Human Rights Commission

LILONGWE, Malawi— In an official public notice, the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) announced the appointment of the members of the Eighth Cohort of Commissioners, including renowned journalist Teresa Chirwa-Ndanga, writes Winston Mwale.
The appointments, which are effective August 26, 2023, and are for a term of three years, mark a significant development in upholding human rights in the Republic of Malawi.
A statement by the MHRC says President Lazarus Chakwera exercised his authority under Section 131 (2) of the Constitution of Malawi to make these appointments, reinforcing the government's commitment to safeguarding human rights in the nation.
The appointed members will serve a three-year term.
