President Chakwera warns "saboteurs"
President Chakwera went on to say that the cabinet agreed that the procurement process, regardless of which office or part is involved, should not take more than 21 days.
MALAWI: On Monday evening, President Lazarus Chakwera issued a serious warning to those allegedly responsible for the delays in signing agreements with international and local investors seeking to develop this country and boost the economic system for a better Malawi in 2063.
Chakwera stated this while speaking to the press at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe during his four-day State visit to Mozambique, saying that there are some people who believe their ideas are better than others, which kills the country's economic growth, and anyone caught doing so will face the rule of law.
He said: "If you are an officer in a certain department and it is discovered that you have been purposefully delaying the signing of an agreement on a certain project that will benefit Malawians, you will undoubtedly face the rule of law."
He went on to say that as we move forward, we should all love our country and think positively so that we can realize our vision of Malawi 2063, in which no one is left behind, because it is possible to have the Malawi that we want because MW2063 is all about mindset change.
President Chakwera went on to say that the cabinet agreed that the procurement process, regardless of which office or part is involved, should not take more than 21 days.
Chakwera assured Malawians that his State visit to Mozambique was fruitful and that if all goes well and no obstacles arise, Malawians will begin to benefit from the Interconnector project in December 2023.
