DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA — President Lazarus Chakwera, accompanied by the First Lady, is in Dar es Salaam to attend the Africa Human Capital Heads of State Summit, writes Winston Mwale.
The summit, held under the theme 'Accelerating Africa's Economic Growth: Boosting Youth Productivity by Improving Learning and Skill', aims to address the challenges faced by the continent in human capital development.
As Malawi faces various local and global obstacles that have hindered the growth of human capital, President Chakwera emphasized the importance of the summit's timing.
These challenges include the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Eastern Europe war, escalating inflation, disrupted global supply chains, and climate change-induced natural disasters.
"Our presence here is to strengthen our collaboration with other stakeholders and attract sustainable investments towards improving education, health, and skills development," President Chakwera stated.
He further linked these efforts to Malawi's long-term vision, Vision 2063, specifically Enabler #5, which focuses on human capital development.
